AU Ag Alumni to Honor Five

AUBURN, Ala. — Three outstanding Alabamians who have made significant contributions to the state’s agricultural industry and two deceased individuals who did so during their lifetimes will be honored Thursday, Feb. 22, by the Auburn University Agricultural Alumni Association.

Slated to be inducted into the association’s Agriculture Hall of Honor, which pays tribute to living individuals for their impact on agriculture in the state, are veteran Perry County dairy, beef and catfish farmer James E. Brady Jr. of Marion; AU animal sciences professor emeritus Dale L. Huffman of Auburn; and Pursell Family Corporation chairman and controlled-release-fertilizer developer James T. Pursell Sr. of Sylacauga.

In addition, the late Thomas F. Burnside Jr. of Wedowee, a long-time Randolph County Extension agent, and Hancey E. Logue Sr. of Auburn, state 4-H leader for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System for 22 years, will be recognized posthumously as the alumni group’s Pioneer Award winners.

The five awards will be presented during the association’s Hall of Honor banquet, which will be held at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center in Auburn. Registration for the banquet begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the banquet at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to the banquet and awards ceremony are $50 per person and should be purchased by Feb. 12.
