Fall Roundup and Taste of Alabama

AUBURN, Ala. —The 21th annual Fall Roundup and Taste of Alabama Agriculture will be held Oct. 21, beginning at 9 a.m. on historic Ag Hill on the Auburn University campus.

Billed as the season's biggest tailgate party, the Roundup features dozens of food items either grown or processed in Alabama. Included among the taste delights will be blue and orange potatoes, collard greens, catfish, pork, beef, chicken, ostrich, emu, satsuma oranges, apples, kiwi, dairy products and many other delicacies.

Music will be provided by the Agri-Opry, which consists of ag faculty and friends who play in local bands. Scheduled guests include Aubie, the AU Pep Band, The AU cheerleaders and many more.

Included in the event will be an auction, complete with professional auctioneers. Hunting and fishing trips, beach vacations and many valuable items will be sold during the auction. Proceeds from the event will go to the AU College of Agriculture Scholarship Fund.

Exhibits from academic departments and commodity groups will be on display. Included among the displays will be a miniature, but operational, syrup mill and cotton gin. There will a petting zoo and pumpkin and face painting for children and many other family-oriented activities.

Since the Taste of Alabama Agriculture was combined with the Ag Alumni Association's Ag Roundup, attendance has grown from a hundred or so ag alumni to nearly 2,000 alumni, friends and the general public who want to sample the food and good times. The public is encouraged to join the party, which lasts from 9 a.m. until an hour before kickoff of the AU vs. Louisiana Tech homecoming football game. Tickets will be on sale at the gate.
