Anthonomus rufipes LeConte 1876:204. New York, one specimen.
Anthonomus rufipes LeConte. Dietz 1891:231-232. Hab. C Illinois (Dr. Hamilton and A. Bolter), Iowa.
The identification of this species, which was doubtful from the description as given by LeConte, has been verified by my friend,
Dr. Horn, by comparison with the type in the author's collection at Cambridge. The differentiation from squamulatus has been referred
to under that species.
Blatchley and Leng (1916:309-311) placed A. tectus LeConte, A. squamulatus Dietz, A. molochinus Dietz, A. rufipes LeConte, and
A. disjunctus LeConte in "Group G" which they characterized as "...from 2.7 to 3.5 mm. in size ... the upper and lower surfaces
more or less clothed with scales, which vary in shape from almost round to very elongate and hair-like. ... All have the femora
armed with a single tooth beneath."
