Auburn University Learning Communities are small groups of students who have similar interests and/or majors. As a Learning Community student, you will take three classes together with other members of your learning community during the fall and spring semesters of your first year. Learning communities are a great way to meet other students, make friends and form study groups with other students.

What is the purpose of learning communities?
National research has shown that learning communities are an effective tool in improving student performance and student retention. We are using learning communities to help you be as successful as possible while at Auburn University .
What are the College of Agriculture, Pre-Vet Learning Communities?
The College of Agriculture and Pre-Vet Learning Communities are two groups of 15 to 25 students who will be enrolled together in a series of classes throughout their freshman year.
Are learning communities only for students entering with low high school GPA's or ACT/SAT scores?
NO! The College of Agriculture and Pre-Vet Learning Communities are for ANY freshman entering the College of Agriculture.
Will I still have to register for classes if I am enrolled in the College of Agriculture or Pre-Vet Learning Community?
YES. Each semester you will need to register for additional courses. We will enroll you in only 8 hours, which is not enough to be considered a full-time student.
Application and Selection Process
The learning community online application will be available in February. You are encouraged to sign up for the priority notification list by emailing LC@auburn.edu to be notified of the exact date the application will go live. All students who have declared majors in the College are invited to join a College of Agriculture learning community.
Students fill out an online application indicating their top three preferences of the learning communities they wish to join AND if they would like to live with their learning community. Living with your learning community is OPTIONAL.
Selections are based on application date.
Selected students are notified before they attend Camp War Eagle.
