Robert A Norton, Ph.D., is a native of Illinois. He is Research Leader in the Poultry Microbiology and Parasitology Laboratory.

EDUCATION:

1992 - Ph.D., Animal Science/Bacteriology and Parasitology, University of Arkansas
1983 - M.S., Animal Industries/Bacteriology, Southern Illinois University
1978 - B.S., Administration of Justice/Forensic Sciences, Southern Illinois University

RESEARCH:

Dr. Norton is a veterinary microbiologist with research interests in several poultry diseases including cellulitis, gangrenous dermatitis and necrotic enteritis, as well as the anaerobic bacteria associated with these and other diseases. His research focuses on the pathogenesis of Escherichia coli involved in several disease complexes including gangrenous dermatitis and cellulitis. Other research interests include the effect of the Major Histocompatability Complex on the resistance to E.coli infections associated with cellulitis
