International Research, Training, and Education Programs

Faculty in the College of Agriculture have a variety of programs currently underway around the world.

The International Center for Aquaculture and Aquatic Environments has a long tradition of research, outreach, and education in nearly every developing country.

Collaboration with Ocean University of China initially developed through the AU Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures, but has now expanded across the university to bring top graduate students to more than five different departments in at least three different AU colleges. Global Water Watch conducts training and outreach activities in Brazil and an array of other countries.

The West Africa Cotton Improvement Program (WACIP) involves several Auburn faculty and seeks to advance production and marketing techniques.

The AquaFish CRSP supports an extended program of research and training conducted by faculty from several departments in a large number of countries, most recently Uganda and South Africa.

The Peanut CRSP continues to be been an important source of funding for research and training in the College.

New relationships are developing between AU Poultry Science faculty and colleagues at the University of Bologna in Italy.

Other faculty currently have collaborations and research activities in Uganda, Norway, Mexico, and quite extensively in China. Several new initiatives involving faculty exchange and student training are underway with several institutions in Vietnam.

The College of Agriculture and its constituent departments have a number of Academic Interchange Agreements that facilitate activities between AU and our collaborating institutions.

The South-East Consortium for International Development (SECID) was formed in 1977 to enable member institutions to provide research, training, and extension to developing nations. With a membership encompassing fourteen universities that span more than a dozen southern and eastern states, SECID is larger than any other U.S. consortium of universities dedicated to international development.
