David Weaver's Maymester JournalIn May 2009, AU Agronomy & Soils Professor David Weaver offered the AU Maymester course AGRN 6100 PLANT GENETICS AND CROP IMPROVEMENT at the Yangling campus of Northwest A & F University in Yangling, Shaanxi Province. Northwest Ag & Foresty students were able to take the course and receive credit through Northwest Ag & Forestry University. On May 22, 2009 in an email home to his collegues, Weaver says "Things are going well beyond my wildest expectations here. The American students are interacting with the Chinese on all sorts of levels, way more than was our orignal intention.... The Chinese are soaking us up like a dry sponge does water. They are hungry for information about everything." While in China, Weaver kept a daily journal, recording his impressions and experiences.
