Below are links to pages of photographs of the azaleas now growing in the Auburn University azalea trials at the Piedmont Substation located in Camp Hill, Alabama (Tallapoosa County). We will be adding new photographs during each spring, summer and fall season of trial.
Nurseries and back yard breeders have supplied a representative sampling of promising cultivars so that we can determine which offer the best heat, cold, pest and environmental tolerance for Alabama. Growth rate, aesthetic appeal, and flowering time will be evaluated.
The landscape contractor and grounds maintenance segments of our Green Industry are the largest growing areas of the horticluture industry in Alabama and throughout the country. Data from a study of this magnitude will offer valuable selection and care information for azaleas and will significantly affect our landscape and nursery industry's bottom line.
