These are part of a provenance study at Brewton AL where we are testing the source of seed on growth and flowering of the trees. Halesia is a beautiful native tree that has all the ornamental attributes for a star landscape plant. It has dark green leaves, attractive bark, and the bell-shaped pendulous flowers you see pictured above. They normally speak of the tree growing from 30 to 40 feet but as you can see, they are extremely variable from seed. The weeping selection is one we are excited about and will be evaluating and releasing as soon as we get enough propagated.
