SCIENTIFIC NAME: Quercus marilandica

COMMON NAME: blackjack oak

LEAVES: Baseball bat shaped (obovate) with yellow pubescence underneath. Leaves are thick and have revolute margins. About 5" long and 3" wide.

BARK: Dark ridge and furrowed.

OTHER: Native to high, dry sites.

Deeply tap rooted. Grows about 70' tall. Some trees will have good fall color. Indicates high/dry site. Leave on the site if found. Not found in the nursery trade.
