SCIENTIFIC NAME: Lithocarpus henryi

COMMON NAME: tan oak, tanbark oak

LEAVES: Alternate. Thick and evergreen. 4" to 10" long, with a yellow mid-vein. Entire and revolute margin. Coarse texture.

FLOWERS: White upright spikes 4" to 6" long. Terminal.

FRUIT: Looks just like oak acorns clustered along a 6" spike. Flattened across the top with a shallow cap.

OTHER: Angular young twigs that are green. Grows 10' to 20' tall. Can be used as a hedge or screen. Easy to transplant. A member of the Fagaceae family.
