LEAVES: Basal leaves, linear to lanceolate ½" to 2" wide and 12" long. Some hybrids have evergreen leaves.

FLOWERS: A terminal umbel with many blue, tubular flowers. Umbels 3" to 4" with from 30-40 flowers to 100 flowers per umbel.

SEASON OF BLOOM: Mid to late summer.

GROWTH HABIT: Basal foliage with leafless flower stalk 2 to 3 ' tall.

SOIL: Moist, well drained.

SUN: Full sun.

HARDINESS: Zone 8.

PROPAGATION: Division of the rhizomatous roots or seed.
