SCIENTIFIC NAME: Pinckneya pubens

COMMON NAME: fevertree

LEAVES: Up to 7" long. Opposite. Pubescent beneath. Appressed venation.

FLOWERS: May-June and pink. Very distinctive and looks similar to poinsettia.

OTHER: Small tree to 15' tall and found in low wet areas. Very attractive. Reported that a fever lowering extract can be made from this plant. Acid soil required. Birmingham and Atlanta are probably marginal as far as the northern boundary for this plant.
