SCIENTIFIC NAME: Cornus kousa

COMMON NAME: Chinese dogwood, kousa dogwood

FLOWERS: Creamy white, pointed bracts that bloom after Cornus florida for 3 to 6 weeks.

FRUIT: Large raspberry-like red fruit in the fall.

LEAVES: Opposite and curly looking. Arcuate venation and pointed at the tip.

GROWTH HABIT: Grows up to 40' tall, but is generally 20' to 30' tall.

OTHER: Hardy from zone 5 to 8 (maybe 4?). Does well in the south. Must be planted in a well drained soil or will get root rot. Is supposed to be resistant to anthracnose (Discula).
