SCIENTIFIC NAME: Cornus alternifolia

COMMON NAME: pagoda dogwood, alternate-leaved dogwood

FLOWERS: White petaled flowers (no bracts) in late April after Cornus florida.

LEAVES: Alternate with arcuate venation and clustered at the tips of the twigs. Leaf tip is attenuated.

GROWTH HABIT: Usually single trunked, small tree that grows 10' to 25' tall.

OTHER: Native to north Alabama and is hardy from zone 3 to 7. Member of the Cornaceae family.
