COMMON NAME: big blue liriope

FLOWERS: Lavender flowers on spikes in the summer.

GROWTH HABIT: Grass like foliage. Spreads by division.

LEAVES: Are wider than Liriope spicata.

OTHER: Hardy zone 6-9. A good ground cover under trees (likes part shade). Has black fruit after flowers. Can be used as a border grass. Each leaf has its own roots and is called a bib. In the landscape, each bib will divide 1 or 2 times each summer. Does well in the shade. Very drought tolerant. Many cultivars available including one with white flowers. A member of the Liliaceae family.
