COMMON NAME: variegated Chinese privet
FLOWERS:
GROWTH HABIT: Grows from 10' to 20', but can be kept low with pruning.
LEAVES: Opposite and flexible with an entire margin. Less than 1/2" long. Needs full sun to keep yellow variegation.
OTHER: Used as a hedge plant. There are lenticels on the twigs. This plant is hard to control once it fruits (small black berries). Birds will move the fruit and the plant will spread. Try to keep the plant from fruiting by pruning. Can get white fly. Must be kept pruned if used as a hedge. Is considered a weed by most professionals.
