COMMON NAME: Florida anise tree

LEAVES: Alternate. Pointed at both ends. Up to 6" long. Not held up as much as Illicium parviflorum.

FLOWERS: Red in spring. Narrow petals. About 2"diameter. Very malodorous. Smells like a fish market.

OTHER: Native plant. Grows 6 - 12' tall. Tolerates drought. Grows well in shade.
