SCIENTIFIC NAME: Ilex latifolia

COMMON NAME: lusterleaf holly

FLOWERS: Dioecious.

FRUIT: Large red fruit in fist shaped clusters that are extremely showy.

GROWTH HABIT: Forms a small tree that grows 15' to 25' tall and wide.

LEAVES: Southern magnolia shaped leaf with coarsely serrated margins. Black stipules form prominent dots at the base of the petiole.

OTHER: Hardy to zone 7. Berries are in fist shape clusters at the tips of the branches. One of the parents of Ilex x 'Emily Bruner', and Ilex x 'James Swan' (female and male cultivars, respectively).
