FLOWERS:

GROWTH HABIT: Shrub that grows 5' to 10' tall and wide.

LEAVES: Opposite with serrations that start 1/4 of the way up the margin. Petiole and leaf turn up and has indistinct venation. Distinct yellow spot near the center of the leaf.

OTHER: Not as fast growing as the straight species. Can revert back to straight species if too much N fertilizer, or if in the shade. Need to cut reversion out when pruning. Can attract a lot of attention because of its brilliant color, so use sparingly in the landscape. Can get euonymus scale. Cultivar 'Aureo-marginatus' has gold variegation on the margins. There are also silver variegated cultivars.
