
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Bambusa spp.
COMMON NAME: common bamboo
FLOWERS: Once every 80 years and then dies.
GROWTH HABIT: Depends on species. Can grow from 6" to 200' tall. Cane type of growth.
LEAVES:
OTHER: There are 100's of species and they are hard to tell apart. Can grow up to 2' a day and spreads by runners. Do not use in the landscape unless in a planter or protected by a buried metal barrier 3' under the ground. Very hard to control. Try to avoid using in the landscape. A member of the Poaceae family. There are clump forming species that can be used in the landscape but one must be sure of the species.
