
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Ajuga reptans
COMMON NAME: bugleweed, carpet bugleweed
FLOWERS: Blue flowers in the spring on spikes.
GROWTH HABIT: Groundcover (1" to 2" tall) that lays flat and spreads by runners.
LEAVES: Has a purple tint and tapers to the base. Feels and looks like cabbage.
OTHER: Hardy to zone 6. Likes full shade and well drained soils. Drought tolerant. Will not tolerate foot traffic. There are many cultivars available (some variegated). A member of the Labitae family.
