SCIENTIFIC NAME: Taxodium distichum nutans (Taxodium ascendens)

LEAVES: Alternate with a finer texture than Taxodium distichum. Needles point up and are twisted.

BARK: Fibrous.

GROWTH RATE: 2.9 ft./yr. in our shade tree study.

OTHER: Deciduous. Good in clumps near water (has knees). Rust fall color. Grows 60' to 80' tall. Faster growing with a narrower growth habit than Taxodium distichum. Very attractive tree. Found in low/moist areas in the wild but will tolerate a dry site in the landscape.
