SCIENTIFIC NAME: Quercus stellata

COMMON NAME: post oak

LEAVES: 5 lobed and pubescent. Cross shaped and thick. Short petiole. Young leaves are pubescent. Lobes can be squared off or rounded at the tips.

BARK: Gray shallowly ridge and furrowed bark.

OTHER: Limbs are arthritic looking. Native to high/dry sites in Alabama. Grows 60' to 80' tall. Hard to transplant. Not found in the trade, but leave on a site if found. Indicates high/dry sites.
