Research
My research involves the evaluation of vegetable crops with emphasis on vegetable physiology and various cultural production practices. Experiments are carried out using a greenhouse, laboratory, and field experiemental sites to study several vegetables including: watermelon, muskmelon, tomato, eggplant, okra, bell pepper, sweet corn, summer squash, snapbean, sweet potato, broccoli, collard, radish, cabbage, and cauliflower. The objectives of these studies were: 1.) to compare crop growth and yield response, 2.) to determine the effects of different growth regulator rates and timing of application rates on plant growth and development, and 3.) to evaluate crop growth and performance using various colors of plastic mulches and row covers to enhance crop production.
