1799Tom started with auburn university in 1977 when he was hired to assist with aquaculture development in columbia. upon completion of his assignment in columbia in 1980, tom returned to auburn to work on his ph. d. tom also worked for the international center for aquaculture as head of party in jamaica ( 1980 to 1984 ) and ecuador ( 1985 to 1987 ). upon returning to campus in 1987 he continued to do short-term international advising in production aquaculture and taught courses in principles of aquaculture, pond construction and the aquaculture production series in the m. aq. program. tom was an expert in the reproduction and rearing of tilapia. tom retired from the department in 2001.
