1741John m. lawrence completed his b.s. in 1941 and his m.s. in 1943 at auburn before serving in the army during wwii. following the war he joined the faculty at auburn, taking leave to complete his ph.d. at iowa state university in 1956. early in his career he worked closely with dr. swingle in developing the research pond complex that has served as a model for this type of facility world-wide. john taught limnology and aquatic weed control and did limnological research on the reservoirs and rivers in alabama. he retired from the department in 1981.
