Auburn University Teams Up with ESPOL in Ecuador

The most important newspaper in Ecuador published the agreement between Auburn University and ESPOL. This is the translation from Spanish to English.

 

 

 

Between 11 and 18 April 2012, Jerry Landívar and Marco Alvarez, professors of the Aquatic Sciences Department, ESPOL, visited Auburn University to discuss about opportunities for the aquaculture industry of

Ecuador. An agreement was concluded between Dr. David Rouse, Head of the Department of Fisheries and ESPOL. Auburn University will provide scientific support in the areas of marine microbiology, genetics, non-traditional fish farming, pisciculture, mariculture, and aquatic nutrition for undergraduate and graduate students, ESPOL. Online courses (CAP Program) will also be provided by this prestigious university.

Professors from Auburn University are expected to attend the Congress of Aquaculture 2012, to be held in Guayaquil, Ecuador in October of this year. They would like to promote research projects in the areas of shrimp and tilapia production.
