Purpose:
The WRATT Foundation is a non-profit corporation which provides free*, confidential, voluntary, and non-regulatory technical services in the areas of waste reduction, pollution prevention, and energy conservation, to businesses, industries, and public or private institutions. Foundation services include on-site technical assessments, seminars, workshops and other public education activities designed to help clients reduce operating costs, waste, pollution, and energy use. The Foundation is operated, and all services are provided, by retired engineers, scientists, and other professionals. The Foundation also provides assistance to other states and foreign countries which desire to establish a program based on the 'WRATT Model'. The cost of Foundation services provided outside the State of Alabama must be reimbursed.

Specific Issues:
In addition to providing on-site energy and waste reduction assessments, WRATT also operates the North Alabama Waste and Materials Exchange (www.wastetrade.org), conducts vehicle exhaust emissions testing in Jefferson & Shelby counties, and conducts mercury vapor testing in Alabama K-12 schools.
