Purpose:
SmartCoast works to build a
healthy coastal region by empowering and inspiring local citizens through
education, research, and dialogue.
Specific Issues:
SmartCoast has put on
conferences on Smart Growth and Mixed Use Development. Since the rapid pace
of development is going to increase along the Gulf Coast, it only makes
sense to make sure that the buildings built to accommodate that growth are
sustainably built. Green Building is a building practice that creates
healthier living and working spaces while conserving and enhancing the
environment.
Additional Comments:
GreenCoast is a two day Southeast Regional Conference
being planned for April 9-10, 2008.
