Land for agricultural use in Alabama has dwindled over the last 50 years while land for forest use has increased. The reasons depend somewhat on the point of view. The necessary background facts may be accessed through the button at left (in MS Word format; please use "back" to return).

The first conference on general land issues generated many facts and conclusions that are relevant to land value issues, especially issues of potential taxation. Two summary bookelts were written for that conference. The second book is most readable and deals most directly with land value and taxation issues. It can be accessed throught the button on "Land Summary" at left.

"Carbon Credits" is a program whereby people can be paid to grow trees so as to help restore the carbon balance in the atmosphere. Please access through the button to the left.

 

"Smart Growth" refers to an attitude toward urban and suburban planning and to an institution that promotes the attitude.
