Research in the Department of Animal Sciences

Our research centers around three key areas in the broad scope of Animal Sciences:

Animal Production Systems and Resource Management

Investigations into nutrition, reproduction, breeding & genetics, productivity and health of animals in various systems of production and husbandry including the effects of animal production systems on the surrounding environment, and the effect of surrounding environment on animal production systems.

Regulatory Biology

Investigations into fundamental mechanisms of cell and molecular biology regulating animal life processes and protein production.

Muscle Foods Science, Technology and Safety

Investigations in muscle tissue biology, new/innovative food products, and novel processing technologies as well as the safety of foods of animal origin.
