Responsibilities: Extension and Research

Research Program:

    Coordinator of Swine Research and Education Complex (SREC) conduct applied research in the areas of swine nutrition, management and waste utilization.

    Current Projects- Alternative ingredients for Phase III starters effects of diet formulation on nutrient composition and fertilizer value of swine manure provide technical support to other scientists with swine research projects.

Extension Program:

    Provide statewide leadership for Extension swine programs for county Extension agents, pork producers, youth and agribusiness in the areas of:

    Swine Herd Monitoring - a systematic approach to enhancing profitability of pork production incorporating on-farm testing of feed and genetics, farm production records, the Pork Quality Assurance Program and Environmental Assurance

    Economic Development - highlighting the impact of pork production on the economy of Alabama

    Agribusiness - alliances with agribusiness to enhance producer education

    Youth Development - incorporating modern production technologies with youth swine activities

    Publications.
