FALL ROUNDUP & TASTE OF ALABAMA AGRICULTURE
From the eagle’s flight before kickoff to the celebration at Toomer’s Corner following a Tigers victory, Auburn faithful love the rich traditions that make football Saturdays memorable. Among College of Agriculture alumni and friends, one of the most enjoyable experiences each fall is Ag Roundup and the Taste of Alabama Agriculture.
Hosted by the Ag Alumni Association at beautiful Ag Heritage Park, this event draws thousands each homecoming Saturday morning for food, fun and fellowship. It’s not only a chance to renew friendships, but it’s also the biggest tailgate party on campus, featuring a smorgasbord of Alabama-grown foods. There are even games for the kids and an auction benefiting the College of Agriculture scholarship program.
The park grew out of a vision by the Ag Alumni Association to preserve the former Beef and Dairy Unit land as a green space that honors the importance of agriculture while providing gathering place for the university. The park already includes the Alabama Farmers Pavilion, the rebuilt Red Barn, a 2.5-acre pond, the remodeled Herdsman's House, and a new memorial brick area. Now, the Ag Alumni Association is leading the effort to restore the Dairy Barn. Once complete, the historic structure will be the crown jewel of the park and will serve as a welcome center. It will also house meeting and classroom space, a retail center, and exhibits highlighting the past, present and future of Alabama agriculture.
During Roundup, visitors are able to learn more about this exciting project as well as the other activities of the Ag Alumni Association. Admission to Roundup is just $5, which includes all the food you care to eat.
If you are not already a member of the Ag Alumni Association, we invite you to join the more than 1,700 graduates and friends who have renewed friendships, developed professional contacts and supported the College of Agriculture through our association. In addition to providing the vision for establishing Ag Heritage Park, the Ag Alumni Association founded the Alabama Agriculture Hall of Honor and provides more than $32,000 in scholarships each year to deserving students.
