  • Other Information
  • The Agribusiness minor  is designed for students other than those majoring in Agricultural Business and Economics. This minor provides students with skills that will help them compete effectively in the agribusiness job market, one of the largest employment areas in the nation.

Natural resources and the environment have become areas of major concern. The Natural Resources Economics and Environmental Policy minor  is designed to provide students with an understanding of how both policy decisions and market mechanisms affect environmental quality and the use of resources. This minor is open to all students.

The minor in Rural and Community Development   teaches students about how people in small towns and rural communities are organized, adapt to new technologies and manage their human and natural resource endowments. The academic discipline of Rural Sociology exposes students to knowledge about people, groups, organizations and institutions that serve places of low population density. A minor in Rural and Community Development provides preparation for a variety of human service occupations in an expanding field of employment. Graduates with this minor possess knowledge and skills important for conducting and administering local, regional and statewide programs serving town, rural and farm people, as well as people with special needs such as the elderly, the disabled, or the poor. Both public and private agencies and organizations seek recruits with human relations and organizational skills that complement special expertise in technical disciplines.

Students desiring to declare a minor in Rural and Community Development may do so anytime after attaining junior (03) classification and completion of 60 semester hours of coursework. Upon declaration of the this minor, the student should report to the Department for assignment of a minor advisor, who will be assigned to consult with and advise about course selection and potential employment opportunities.
