    Thailand
  • Bailey, Conner: Made two trips to Tromso , Norway . During the first trip, a series of lectures relating to Tropical Fisheries Development was presented. During the second visit, a series of lectures on International Fisheries Law and Institutions was presented with a focus on institutional issues related to resource management.

  • Bailey, Conner and Henry Kinnucan: Served as Adjunct Professors at the University of Tromso, Norway; faculty members used consulting and leave time to offer intensive blocks of instruction during the year.

  • Crews, Jerry: Participated in a Catfish Industry Leadership tour of Vietnam and China . Purpose was to evaluate the competitive position of these products (especially Vietnam ) with U.S. products.

  • Dunkelberger, John: Participated in program to assist small forestland owners manage their property as part of Romanian Forest Management Education Project (USDA and SECID).

  • Jolly, Curtis:

    • Participated in soil management CRSP program in Haiti to evaluate soil conservation practices.
    • Initiated a study of the effects of aflatoxin on the marketing of groundnuts in Benin .
    • Made a survey of aflatoxin impacts on groundnut producers and consumers in Ghana .

  • Molnar, Joseph: Contributed to the development of a Tilapia culture web page to facilitate dissemination of technical information and training materials for NGO’s and producers in Honduras .

  • Prevatt, J. Walter: Served as agricultural economist (livestock marketing) on Auburn University ’s agricultural project with Argentina .

  • Simpson, Eugene : Traveled to Yerevan , Armenia and consulted as part of USDA Marketing Assistance Program to characterize the state of commercial poultry (meat and egg) industry and to make recommendations for the direction of the USDA/MAP enterprise (co-authored a comprehensive report for USDA/MAP with Dr. Hess, Auburn University ’s Department of Poultry Science).

  • Traxler, Greg: Worked on projects in Latin America with the Inter-American Development Bank and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center .

  • Wilson, Norbert:

    • Working with Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) while on leave in Paris, France to analyze the economic and trade effects of the Technical Barriers of Trade (TBT) Agreement and the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Agreement of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
    • Helped facilitate a workshop called Making Markets Work in Stellenbosch University, South Africa . The workshop involved a short course on agribusiness management for business leaders and trainers in southern African region.
    • Wilson team-taught a session on strategic management. While in South Africa, he initiated development of a case study on the rooibos tea industry, considering the export of rooibos tea to the U.S.
