Agriscience Education
Agriscience Education, at Auburn University, is the preparation of teachers and other professionals to educate middle and high school students and adults in agriculture.Students in this program take the coursework, examinations and field classes required to become certified to teach in the K-12 public school system while some of our grads go into extension work.

- The agriscience education teacher is often an expert at cross-curriculum education relating many subject areas to agricultural studies. Instruction often requires problem solving using critical thinking skills.
- The agriscience teacher uses classroom and laboratory instruction and supervised work-base experiences to prepare students for advanced study in agriculture.
- Although many of the classes taken are in the College of Agriculture, Agriscience Education is a part of the College of Education.
Subjects Studied
Students study courses in general education, technical agriculture, and professional education. Coursework in technical agriculture ensures agriscience education teachers have general knowledge in animal and poultry science, horticulture, agronomy and soils, agricultural economics, agriculture mechanics, forestry, plant science, environmental science, and aquaculture. Professional education course work prepares teachers for classroom and laboratory planning and evaluating local agricscience education programs, assessing student performance, and working with diverse learners. A 15-week off-campus professional internship in a selected school is required.
