Students
in Poultry Science
study the nutrition, marketing, management and business skills needed
in poultry production. Poultry Science students receive a foundation
in basic science and mathematics as well as an understanding of
the poultry industry.
In
the November 2003 issue of Meat and Poultry magazine Auburn’s
Poultry Science Department was ranked as the fourth college program
in the nation specializing in poultry processing.

Some
graduates choose to further their education and pursue graduate
or veterinary school and others start their career with an average
starting salary between $31 to $36,000. Alabama has 18 poultry production
complexes that represent 10 different companies who need about a
hundred college graduate employees per year.
