Horticulture
majors at Auburn University learn how to establish, propagate, harvest,
and manage fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants. They also learn
the principles of landscape design to create and manage aesthetically
pleasing environments.
Students will enter into a learning
environment that has been recognized nationally for its research,
the relationships between faculty and students, and the high rate
of employment of its graduates. Students can choose one of the three
tracks offered in Nursery and Greenhouse Science, Landscape Horticulture
or Fruit and Vegetable Production.

Each
fall and spring semester about 20 horticulture companies visit our
department to hire students for internships or full-time positions. Typically
students who complete the horticulture program at Auburn have from
3 to 5 job offers upon graduation and earn between $28,000 and $45,000.
About 17 percent of our graduates will form their own business.
