Students
in Biosystems Engineering
are rewarded with a diverse educational experience and great career
opportunities. The Biosystems Engineering Department is very unique
because it offers a degree in Biosystems Engineering along with
an optional curriculum in Forest Engineering.
Students
receive a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry,
biology, and engineering fundamentals. These educational foundations
are combined with specialized training in biosystems engineering
and forest engineering enabling graduates to solve problems in production,
processing, and distribution of food and fiber along with protecting
and enhancing our natural resources and environment. Biosystems
Engineering combines engineering with biology.
The
Forest Engineering option, the only one of its kind in the South,
provides students with engineering fundamentals to focus on engineering
applications in forestry – one of our most precious resources.
Auburn offers the only accredited Biosystems Engineering program
in Alabama.

Biosystems
Engineering graduates obtain rewarding job offers from a variety
of companies across the US. Their education permits them to work
as design engineers, sales engineers, project managers, engineering
managers, and as research and development managers. Starting salaries
for Biosystems Engineers range from $35,000 to $55,000.
