Aquaculture and Fisheries students receive a strong training in chemistry, mathematics and biology while learning how to apply these subjects to managing fresh and saltwater aquatic resources. This degree gives students an understanding of the principles used in solving problems with aquatic resources and the awareness to provide safe, reliable food through aquaculture production.
     Four areas of emphasis Fisheries students can choose from according to their interests are Aquaculture, Aquatic Resource Management, Fisheries Management and Fisheries Pre-Professional option.

Here are a few career paths a Fisheries graduate could pursue:

· Fish Hatchery Coordinator

     Graduates of the Fisheries program work in many different types of jobs. Some choose to continue their education with a master’s degree or doctorate while others choose to start their careers. Salary rates vary depending on what career is chosen but the average salary was reported between $28 to $32,000 a year.
