Grant Proposal Approval Process

College of Agriculture, Auburn University

1.   If a grant proposal is in response to an RFP (Request for Proposals), read that RFP carefully.

2.   Outline text of proposal, establish project title.

3.   Develop a budget, as recommended in the RFP, and in consultation with co-investigators.

4.   If another institution (outside of Auburn) in involved, seek budgetary help from Liz Sims (simseli@auburn.edu), 4-4438, in Office of Sponsored Programs.

5.   At least one week prior to deadline complete Extramural Cover Form and get approvals:

a.   From Department Heads or Chairs (or their designee) representing all investigators on the project; then

b.   College or Alabama Experiment Station approval by  Dr. L. Sauser, Comer Hall, 4-2344, mailto:sauseld@auburn.edu, plus other School or College approvals as needed for each investigator on the project.

6.   When a proposal is rushed or ‘walked through’, these same signatures are required and in the order as noted above.

7.   For Electronic proposal submissions, approvals are required in an identical manner, though these may be obtained through e-mail exchanges.
