12th Annual Ag Classic

May 20-21, 2009

Ag Classic has become one of the greatest traditions within the College of Agriculture. It provides an informal setting for alumni and friends to return to Auburn for fun and fellowship. Our central mission remains strengthening support for the College while building lifelong relationships with friends and supporters.

In addition to the sporting events, Ag Classic includes a social hour, dinner and auction on Wednesday night, May 20, at the Alabama Farmers Pavilion at Ag Heritage Park. Deadline for registration is Friday, May 15. Teams will be accepted on a first-come basis, with a waiting list started as each event fills.

With the exception of the Fishing Tournament, proceeds from the 2009 Ag Classic will go towards the replication of the Dairy Barn at Ag Heritage Park. Located on Samford Avenue on a site that is now the gateway to Ag Heritage Park, the Dairy Barn functioned as part of Auburn University’s dairy until 1985. It continued to be used for teaching purposes through the 1990s and as an informal gathering spot for tailgates in the early 2000s until concerns about its structural safety forced its closing for public events. The project’s goal is to transform the Dairy Barn into a facility that will increase the visibility of Ag Heritage Park, further establish the park’s presence on the AU Campus and provide a venue for telling the story of agriculture at AU and throughout Alabama.
