Fisheries scholarship created in memory of David Partridge
Students pursuing a master’s or Ph.D. at Auburn University in fisheries management, fisheries ecology or fisheries conservation/biology soon will be eligible to apply for a fisheries scholarship created in memory of the late David Partridge.
The scholarship, to be awarded annually in the amount of $1500, will become available when the Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures raises $10,000. The Partridge family has pledged to donate $25,000 to the scholarship.
Partridge received his master’s in fisheries from Auburn University in 1997. He worked as a district fisheries biologist in Georgia and later became a supervisor biologist. While with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, he instituted new techniques to assess and understand fish populations.
Partridge was an avid outdoorsman, conservationist and naturalist. He died in a traffic accident in his home state of Iowa.
