NATIONAL CHAMPS — The Auburn University Soil Judging Team claimed the title as the 2003 National Collegiate Soil Judging Champions in national competition held in early April at Texas A&M University.

AU seniors Christina van Santen of Auburn, Deana Lasater of Hazelgreen, and Stan Usery Jr. of Athens; junior Ellen Knight of Wadley; sophomores Bryan Stone of Hartselle and Brandon Dillard of Hartford; and team coach Joey Shaw, assistant professor of agronomy at AU, all showing off the first-place trophy.
