"The loveliest village"

Lutry, a village in Switzerland

Since retiring a year ago from a 32-year career as an agronomy and soils professor at Auburn, Jacob Dane has spent some time honing his photography skills, and that's evident in the sizable collection of pictures he took in mid-October when he and his wife, Auburn horticulture professor Fenny Dane, visited their daughter in Switzerland. This photo, which claims this week's Picture This! honors, is of the lovely village of Lutry. Nestled along Lake Geneva with an impressive view of the nearby Alps, Lutry is the largest of 11 villages in this wine-making region and is known for its trademark terraced vineyards. The Danes say they had an especially delightful time sampling the fruits of Lutry's vines. To see more of Dane's photos, visit http://gallery.me.com/jacobdane.

Picture This! is the College of Ag's online feature that showcases photography by members of the Ag family. Thanks to all faculty, staff and students who've already sent in photos! KEEP THOSE PICTURES COMING! The photos don't have to be college- or Auburn- or agriculture-related, either; just great shots you'd like to share with the rest of us.

To submit a photo for Picture This!, e-mail it to AgComm@auburn.edu. Include your name, the date and location of the photo, person(s) in the photo and any other info you'd like folks to know about the photo. Look for a new Picture This! photo every other Wednesday.
