"On the streets of Xi'an"

market in Xi'an, China

Auburn agronomy and soils graduate student Mike Mulvaney thought one street vendor's colorful display of dried fruits was as pretty as a picture, so he took one to prove it. Vendors peddling produce, nuts and other foods line the streets in the ancient Chinese city of Xi'an, which is where Mulvaney, five other College of Ag graduate students and agronomy and soils professor David Weaver were on a weekend back in May. They were in China, on Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University's Yangling campus, from early May through mid-June for the Office of International Agriculture's first-ever Maymester Abroad, a program in which Auburn faculty teach Auburn students Auburn courses for Auburn credits -- all in intensive three- to five-week time frames, and all in developing countries around the world. Weaver taught his plant genetics and crop improvement course and says close to 100 NWAFU students joined the Auburn students for at least one class. For an entertaining read, check out Weaver's daily travel journal.

Picture This! is the College of Ag's online feature that showcases photography by members of the Ag family. Thanks to all faculty, staff and students who've already sent in photos! KEEP THOSE PICTURES COMING! The photos don't have to be college- or Auburn- or agriculture-related, either; just great shots you'd like to share with the rest of us.
