DAIRY BARN CONSTRUCTION

The Auburn University Agricultural Alumni Association has launched a new project aimed at preserving Auburn University's rich agricultural history and increasing agriculture's visibility on campus.

In October 2007,the Ag Alumni Association's board of directors voted to take an active role in a fund-raising drive for the renovation and reconstruction of the Auburn University's old Dairy Barn located at Ag Heritage Park. The goal of the project is to preserve the historical integrity of this architecturally iconic structure and ensure that it retains its presence on campus.

A partnership with the AU College of Architecture, Construction and Design's Design-Build Master's program is significantly reducing construction costs. Overall budget for construction of the new facility is projected at $1.5 million.

The goal of the project is to provide an entry facility to the park that will work to secure the park's position on campus and give the College of Agriculture and agriculture in Alabama a new way to spread the message of our industry. The new facility will have a multi-media area to showcase the past, present and future of agriculture; meeting areas for classes, industry meetings and company interviews; retail areas to market home-grown Alabama products (primarily from rural communities); and office space. The Dairy Barn will become the permanent home for the Ag Alumni Association!

When serving as Ag Alumni president in 2007, Jim Tollison sent a letter to the association's board asking that:

"...we each take a moment to reflect on how we have been blessed and what a large part of our lives is connected to Auburn and the Auburn Family. Many of us have benefited from the past kindnesses of others in regards to facilities and programs at Auburn. Now we have an excellent opportunity to make a similar type of contribution."

We hope you will become part of this significant new feature to Auburn University's landscape. Four-year tax-deductible contributions are being sought at the following levels:
