Mission

The College of Agriculture at Auburn University is dedicated to educating people and discovering knowledge that improves the lives of all Alabama citizens through our research, instruction, and outreach programs.

History

The College of Agriculture traces it roots back to 1872 with the establishment of the Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical College as a Land-Grant college. Throughout its 136-year history, the College has helped advance Alabama’s agricultural economy while improving the nutrition, health, and standard of living for all citizens. Location & Directions

The main offices of the College of Agriculture are located in Comer Hall, which is on the east side of the Auburn campus.

  • College of Agriculture students come from virtually every state in the nation and more than 70 foreign countries.
  • The Department of Horticulture has placed every one of its graduates in a job for two decades.
  • More than half of students majoring in Poultry Science are on scholarship.
  • For the 2006 freshmen class of the AU College of Veterinary Medicine 20 of the 47 seats were filled with students from the Department of Animal Sciences.
  • The College’s Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures is recognized as number one in the nation.
  • Auburn's Biosystems Engineering program has experienced a 47% growth in female students over the last 5 years.
  • The Soils Judging Team from the Department of Agronomy and Soils, has won 5 National Championships.

Scholarships = 374 students (32 percent) received scholarships in 2007
  • AU's College of Agriculture has the third largest scholarship program, both in number of awards and monetary value, on the Auburn campus.
  • Scholarships range from full-tuition awards to grants of $100 to $1,000 from organizations and individuals.
  • $687,476 in College of Agriculture scholarships were awarded in 2007.
