Volume 47 Number 2 Summer 2000
|
Summer is always a busy time in agriculture, and this summer promises to be an especially busy and productive time at our research and extension centers across the state. We have several major events planned for this summer, and I urge you to attend any of these that occur in your area. Field days and special events at our research centers provide a tremendous opportunity for us to get feedback on our research, teaching, and extension programs. One of these events will be a Cotton Expo, which will be held August 17 and 18. On the 17th, research at the Prattville Experiment Field will be featured, and on the following day, cotton research at the E.V. Smith Research Center in Shorter will be highlighted. On August 26, an Agri-Rama will be held at the Upper Coastal Plain Research Station in Winfield. This event will feature various ag-related events and is intended to appeal to those who are not directly involved in agriculture, as well as our ag audience. On August 10, the Sand Mountain Research and Extension Center in Crossville will host a Beef Cattle Field Day, and on August 22, the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center in Headland will host a Field Crops Field Day. Then, on September 16, the North Alabama Horticulture Research Center will host a Pumpkin Field Day. We will also be hosting some different types of events that might be of interest to many of you. On campus, we will host a Turfgrass Field Day on July 21. On June 22, the Sand Mountain Research and Extension Center will host the first ever Farm Pond and Lake Guntersville Management Field Day. And on July 12, the Tennessee Valley Research and Extension Center will host the John Deere Agri-Systems 2000 Field Day. |
